Early in the development of HuntScan, we decided it would be more convenient and cost effective if HuntScan leveraged that powerful computer that you keep in your pocket. Similar to Netflix, Audibles, OnX, and many other services- HuntScan is delivered to your iPhone via the App Store.

On our internal testing dataset, we achieve relative high accuracy. HuntScan serves as an extra set of eyes to help you pick up deer that you might have missed. We aim to help you pick up deer that are hard to see and easy to miss on screen.

For iPhone X, HuntScan works in real-time without lagging. iPhone 11 and above, is our recommended model as it works very smoothly. If you are using an older model of iPhone, it could be slow due to the limited computing power of the phone.

A spotting scope is the preferred optic, but others may work as long as you have a phone adapter and a solid tripod.

Yes, as long as it is set up on a stable tripod and phone adapter.

How far can you spot animals with your eyes? For HuntScan, distance is a function of both optical and digital zoom. As a general rule of thumb, if it is big and clear enough for your eyes to see it, so should HuntScan. HuntScan was designed to pick animals around the 20 pixels in size.

No. That is one of the great things about our product, NO movement is required for HuntScan to identify an animal. It will actually work on a still picture. I know right, think of the possibilities when paired with your natural eye!

The numbers within the red bounding box are a statistical confidence value that the algorithm uses. The higher the number, the more confidence the AI is that it’s a Big Game animal. Soon, the user will be able to adjust this setting to your own personal preference.

No, there needs to be some ambient light to make the animal visible to the iPhone camera.

HuntScan serves as an extra set of eyes to help you pick up deer that are small on the screen (see examples above). You might miss it when you are using your binoculars or spotting scope to search for deer. If you are zoomed and the deer appears large on your screen, HuntScan will not put a bounding box on it. Example:

Example on deer too big.

No. We have plans to support elk, deer sheds, and coyotes. Once it hits enough interests, we will start developing models to support other animals. DM us on IG (@huntscan) or Facebook and let us know what you want to detect.
